Google Adsense
as a way to Increase Your Internet Revenue
Here are some Google basics! Before I explain Google Adsense let me first discuss Google Adwords. Whenever someone does a Google search they enter a keyword or a keyword phrase into the search box. Google’s search computer finds two types of listings that are relevant to the search words. These two types of listings are:
1. Optimized Websites and,
2. Sponsored Links.
The table below summarizes the results when the search was done on the word “Adsense.”

(Displays Optimized Web Sites)
This section displays Web sites that have been optimized for the Google search engine. The builders of these sites have done everything right in order to satisfy Google for a particular keyword of search term. The best sites rank on page one. The top ten spaces are coveted by Web site owners.

Sponsored Links:
These sponsored links are called “Adwords.” Business owners and advertisers bid on keywords and search terms. The highest bidder for each keyword gets to occupy the top position in this section. Every time someone clicks on a sponsored link the advertiser pays so much per click. That is why they call this Pay-Per-Click advertising.

The Adword listings are displayed every time a search is done on Google. If the keyword is dog grooming the Web sites that rank high for “dog grooming” will appear on the first page. Similarly, the top ranking pay-per-click ads (for dog grooming) will appear on the same page. In this way Google serves up “relevant” information for the selected search term or phrase. The Sponsored Links ads and the Web sites both match the keyword searched.
In addition to Adwords being displayed during Google searches they can also be displayed on Web sites. This is called Adsense. It’s the flip side of the coin. And this is how it works.
When you build your Web site you can apply to Google for their Adsense program. When accepted they give you a special HTML code to insert into your Web page. After it’s inserted Google will visit that page and analyze the key word content and match the Adword display to the keyword topic you are presenting on that page. This means you get relevant ads that relate to the topic you are discussing on that particular Web page.
Here is where it gets better. Remember when I discussed Google Adwords? Every time a Web surfer clicks on a Pay-Per-Click ad Google collects a pre-determined amount of money from the advertiser.
When you offer Adwords on your site it’s called Adsense and Google splits the earning with you every time a Web surfer clicks on an ad.

Now, even small sites can qualify: Before the Summer of 2003 Google required that Websites must have substantial traffic (20 million impressions per month) to qualify for the Adsense program. Those restrictions have been lifted and now any site with good content can qualify.
No matter what product you are offering or even if you do not yet have a product you can start to earn an income through this program.
